I researched for over 16 months to prepare to open a business that would allow me the freedom to be away often, as my number one priority is to my husband, a Wounded Veteran Medically Retired from the Marine Corps after 16 years of service. I researched laws, codes, locations and so much more.
THEN...Plans shifted. Just over a month ago I found 2 brand new property listings that instantly inspired me to alter my original idea and move quickly with a new plan that fills me with a feeling of purpose and determination.
I found a location to establish a place for Caregivers of Wounded Veterans to go to take a break for a day or weekend. Get Away from the environment they are absorbed in day in and day out. A day alone, or bring their family. A COST FREE location.
My favorite property has over 100 acres of land, a guest home, 3 additional guest rooms in a 3rd building, and a huge outbuilding we can use for groups to gather for SO many varying reasons. Additionally, it is about a half an hour from a state park and lake. I'm keeping my eye on 2 other properties as well as checking for new listings often, but THIS favorite FEELS like the THEE location. It is what lit the fire in me to do this, so the faster we can raise the funds the better the chance I really will be able to get this going within a year.
We can provide others with the invitation to visit our home, without them feeling like they are imposing on our family. Because we will own the property, using what was our mortgage payment to instead pay taxes & utilities, will allow us to start with more personal contact and add cabins, etc. as we go.
So many different ideas keep presenting themselves to me, but I NEED to start with the property purchase. While I focus to getting that funded, I will post ideas and gladly accept input, ideas, and support thru my blog.
